Truck scales for static weighing
Complex stock-taking decisions for vehicle-transported cargos relate to the one of the most important fields of RPE “METRA” activity. Main elements of these decisions are various models of TRUCK SCALES for static weighing designed and produced by the company.

Scales selection:
For correct scales selection it is necessary:
- To make a list of vehicles that will be weighted by means of the scales, indicating car models, the largest mass, distance between the first and the last axes, and track width. Scales loading area should be at least a meter longer than the distance between the first and the last axes of the longest vehicle. The greatest weighing limit should be bigger than the largest weight of the heaviest vehicle.
- To determine a place where the scales will be located. While choosing a place, it is necessary to take into account that vehicles should drive in and out the scales along the longitudinal axis.
- To determine scale operator location (weighing station). While ordering the scales it is necessary to indicate the cable length sufficient for cable laying from the scales to the weighing station, but not longer than 100 meters.
- To determine, whether explosion-proof construction of the scales is needed. Only low weighbridges have implosion protection certificate.
- To select scales installation type – above-ground installation with ramps or installation in pit.
- To determine the need of work stations for goods calculation (computer, printer, uninterruptible power supply).
- To determine the need of auxiliary equipment (traffic light, barriers, actuator interface blocks, backup indicator boards).

Distinctive features of scales installation:
Above-ground scales installation has the following benefits as compared to pit-installation:
- Less volume of earth and concrete work;
- No need to export (drain) water from under the scales deck.
Comparative weaknesses of this scale type are:
- Additional space for ramps;
- Higher vehicle position – 40-60 cm higher than ground level (it is important if the height is limited, for example, if any structure hangs over the scales).
Pit-installation has the following benefits as compared to above-ground scales installation:
- occupies less space (it is important when the enterprise territory is limited);
- the vehicle is located on the ground level.
However, for pit installation it is needed to provide:
- larger volume of earth and concrete work;
- pit drainage.
