Truck scales without intermediate deck Description

The scales are designed for determination of dispatched bulk material volume. The scales have registration functions of dispatched material mass and current conveyor productivity, connection interface RS 485, current terminal with value ranges (should be specified when ordering): 0…5ìÀ, 4…20ìÀ, 0…20ìÀ.

Field of application - enterprises in various industries. The scales correspond to GOST 30124?94. Warranty period of the conveyor scales - 1 year from the date of commissioning.

METRA produces conveyor scales for conveyor belt width from 500mm to 2000mm (should be specified when ordering) and the greatest material linear density from 5 to 1000kg/m (should be specified when ordering). The scales are built in various existing conveyors. Two standard roller carriages that are used in this conveyor are installed on the loading area.

The scales have two principal units: loading area and measuring system. Loading area is mounted on conveyor mill (1). Loading area consists of two supporting beams (2) and two suspended beams (3).

The measuring system includes: 4 load cells (4), belt speed sensor Ì4207 (IDS1) (6), conveyor strain indicator Ì0600-Ê6 and connecting cables.


The scales structure allows to change frame width due to supportimg beams. Thus, scales can be mounted on conveyor mills of various width.

Thanks to swivel built-in joints, scales an be mounted on conveyor with slope angle up to 20°.

Structural features of conveyor scales Structural features of conveyor scales:
  • Scales structure uses 4 load cells located in the corners of the loading area in built-in joints, so the scales can be mounted on conveyor with slope angle up to 20o.
  • Belt speed sensor is fixed on roll carriage of scales or conveyor, and is caused to rotate by upper conveyor flight.
  • Measuring section of transporting belt transfers the load to the load cells through two roller carriages. Number of roller carriages and load cells included in the loading area allows to increase weighing range and provide high weighing accuracy.
  • Loading area can be easily mounted on the existing conveyor.
  • The scales are simple and easy to service.
  • The scales can be easily transported to the place of installation (the scales are dismantled for delivery, weight: 60-120 kg).
  • Wide operating temperature range (from -30 to +40oÑ).
  • Reinforced protection from external factors due to stainless steel load cells Z6FC3 with protection degree IP67 (manufacturer - HBM, Germany) (Certificate ¹16419 RU.C.28.010.A State Register ¹25939-03 of 1.12.03).

Installation: scales mounting, setting up, calibration

Scales installation is carried out according to installation specification which is a part of operation manual. Installation is executed under supervision of RPE “METRA” specialist.

Necessary equipment:
  • Drill.
  • Polishing machine.
  • Electric arc welder.
  • Acetylene-oxygen cutting torch or similar instrument.
  • Set of wrenches.

Scales calibration and verification is carried out according to GOST 8.005-2002 method by means of actually conveyed materials. During scales calibration or verification, the material (sample) should be weighed using static scales (truck scales, car scales, crane scales, floor scales) before conveyor scales passage or after it. Minimum time of material filling during adjustment is 6 minutes.

    For loading area installation in explosion hazard zone, the scales are equipped with the control cabinet Ì6402. Weight-measuring instrument, control elements and indicators are mounted on the front panel. Spark-proof barriers, uninterruptible power supply, power supply of input-output module and clamp connectors for external circuit connection are mounted in the control cabinet.

    On request the scales can be equipped with control cabinet Ì6403. Weight-measuring instrument, control elements and indicators are mounted on the front panel. Power supply of input-output module and clamp connectors for external circuit connection are mounted in the control cabinet.

    The scales can be also equipped with backup indicator panel M1900 (small), M1901 (large), which backups data from weight-measuring instrument to the indicator panel located in a place convenient for operator supervision.

    DevNet software description

    DevNet software is used for conveyor scales connection to the computer. Using this program it is possible to connect a system containing up to 31 scales to one COM port. The program has the following functions:

    • control signals output via COM port;
    • imitation and visual control of the shipment process;
    • parameters modification, issue of instructions “ON”, “OFF”, “START”, “STOP”, “TARE”;
    • moment and average conveyor output values, integrator values, belt speed value transfer to the clipboard and via the local network;
    • embedding as a driver in the customer’s automatic control system, using MailSlot (mailbox), FileMapping (intertask clipboard) and OLE Automation (OLE automation server).
